The newest trend in elastic hair ties provides a fun and fashionable way to dress up your hair, but can come with a higher price tag than your plain old black elastic band. Instead of paying top dollar, you can easily make these trendy ties at home with just a few supplies.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Elastic in several colors (Most craft stores will have the elastic right on the shelves, typically in a 60” band)
- Sharp scissors
- Long-reach lighter
Here’s how to do it:
- First, cut the elastic into a 7” strip.
- Tie the ends together. Leave about 1” sticking out from the knot and twist it so that you get the tails exactly how you want them.
- To keep the tails from fraying, carefully and quickly burn the ends of the tails to seal them off, making sure that the flame is as far away from your skin and the elastic as possible.
Not only are these ties cute and trendy, but they’re also less likely to leave dents in your hair! Consider making a few for friends and family – they make great gifts!
