If you're looking for a fun spin on a traditional French braid, try your hand at a chic side braid. This fresh style can be worn at the office or tousled slightly for an ultra-feminine date-night look. Here are a few tips:
- Part slightly damp hair to the side, applying a small amount of product to prevent flyaways. Start with a two-inch section of hair from the front right hairline and begin French braiding by separating the hair into three even strands.
- Once the foundation braid has been started, begin adding more hair with each crossover, gathering strands from the hairline at the rightmost strand, and then crossing over the middle, pulling tight. Repeat on the left side to keep the braid balanced.
- Continue braiding until you reach the base of the neckline and then braid horizontally across to the left, keeping the braid nice and tight. Gather all the hair into the French braid by the time the bottom of the left ear has been reached. Secure with an elastic band.
- Either leave the braid hanging over your left shoulder or wind and tuck together to create a loose bun. Secure with hairpins to hold in place.
