He is yet to play a senior game in the home and away season, but North Melbourne are keen enough on Mitchell Hibberd to sign him on until the end of 2018.
The 19-year-old draftee played in the Roos NAB Challenge match against Collingwood this year and got nine touches.
North Melbourne announced on Wednesday that they had offered the utility a new contract and he said he appreciated the show of faith.
"Hopefully I can get a senior game as soon as possible and get another taste of it, and then hopefully build on what I was able to do in the NAB Challenge game," Hibberd said.
The Roos picked Hibberd at number 33 in the draft at the end of last year.
The utility said he had doubted whether he would get a chance to play AFL after suffering serious shoulder and knee injuries as a junior player.
