Following the success of her 2012 Grammy nominated album The Idler Wheel, Fiona Apple releases visuals for the album closer, “Hot Knife.” For the video, Apple reunited with ex-boyfriend Paul Thomas Anderson to direct. Apple and Anderson dated in the late ‘90s and early 2000’s, during which time Anderson directed several videos for Apple including “Paper Bag,” “Limp,” “Fast as You Can” and her cover of “Across the Universe.”

The video is shot so beautifully, you’d never be able to tell “Hot Knife” is Anderson’s first music video in 11 years. It pictures Apple singing and beating on drums through various camera angles, split screen shots and close ups. The video also features cameos from her sister, Maude Maggart, who sang backing vocals for the track. Apple’s heartfelt performance and Anderson’s ability to capture an enduring image will have you glued to the screen until the video’s conclusion.

Watch it above and let us know if you missed Fiona Apple as much as we did on Twitter.
