Skaterpunk pop princess Avril Lavigne’s engagement to her male counterpart Nickelback frontman Chad Krueger hasn’t kept her from keeping it rock and roll. The second single from her fifth, self-titled album has the fairly standard title “Rock N Roll” and while the song is a stomping pop rock anthem beget with fits of yelling, it’s the video that really caught our attention.

Avril dances in and out of a grunge-futuristic landscape that begins with a self-referential skit snippet reminding the world of her “Sk8er Boi” break-out and only gets more bizarre from there. Sporting camo, face paint and a graffiti covered helmet, Lavigne makes out with Danica McKellar aka Winnie Cooper from Wonder Years, unearths a Boba Fett look-alike in a local watering hole, and even fights a mythical bear-shark.

As if all this wasn’t enough, the video flips between reality and comic-style renderings to increase the weirdness. It’s a strange, sci-fi mishmash, but with her sugary vocals and brazen attitude, Avril pulls it all together.
