Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and six Bayern Munich players are on the shortlist - but who do you think should win the Ballon d'Or?
The shortlist for the 2013 Ballon d'Or is out and perhaps the most surprising thing is how sensible the list looks.
No doubt there will be plenty of hand-wringing in England, where nobody from the national team has made it on to Fifa's squad of the best 23 players in the world this year.
Wales has a representative in Gareth Bale, even though he has barely kicked a ball since May. His startling form for Tottenham in the second half of last season ensures he is worth of his place in this company.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has a great deal of support, having scored nine goals in his last four games, many of them brilliant acrobatic attempts.
In Germany they will point to the half a dozen Bayern Munich players on the list, reflective of the brilliance of their 2012-13 campaign in which they won the treble. Unfortunately having so many players worthy of recognition may count against them, as their votes are split.
Ultimately it is likely once again to come down to a head-to-head battle between Lionel Messi, who has won the last four awards, and Cristiano Ronaldo, who won the one before that in 2008 and has finished runner-up in three of the four years since then.
But who do you think should win?
