Fast & Furious 6 star Gal Gadot has won the coveted role of Wonder Woman in the upcoming Batman vs. Superman film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe," director Zack Snyder said in a statement. "Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character." Superman to face off against Batman in Man of Steel sequel

The upcoming film, a sequel to Man of Steel, stars Ben Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne and Henry Cavill, who will reprise his role as Superman/Clark Kent. The film is expected to begin production in 2014 with an intended July 17, 2015, release date.

Gadot, 28, is best known as Gisele in the two most recent films in theFast and the Furious franchise. Prior to that, she won the Miss Israel title in 2004 and went on to represent Israel at the 2004 Miss Universe beauty pageant. She also served in the Israeli Army for two years.
