Cada semana te traemos lo mejor de la música Latina. This week’s Song of the Week pick is “La Luz” by Juanes,  his first single since 2012.

You can stop asking Santa for gifts now, because an even better surprise has come along. Juanes has just released “La Luz,” the first single off of his much-anticipated sixth studio album, which is scheduled to be released in 2014. The song marks a definite shift in sound for the Colombian singer, who’s opted for an upbeat, danceable tempo that features Colombian rhythms and his distinctive melodic vocals.

The song was written by Juanes and recorded in Los Angeles with Cafe Tacvba’s Emmanuel "Meme" del Real. The track will feature an accompanying music video shot in Cartagena, Colombia that is still to be released. As his press release explains, “while Juanes is often known as a consciously outspoken observer of challenges facing our world, he has long been equally at home — with some of his biggest hits — pairing mesmerizing Latin rhythms with lyric explorations of how attraction, lust and intimacy can take hold of us.” Enjoy!
