Grammy Award-winning producer / songwriter / rapper Timbaland continues his hot streak with the latest track from the Pepsi® Beats of the Beautiful Game album, “Whoever We Are,” featuring Rachel Assil. The track is quintessential Timbaland, combining heavy-bass, synth compliments and an attention-grabbing hook in a tightly produced track that soars on first listen.
In “Whoever We Are,” Timbaland adds Rachel Assil, a powerful new vocalist releasing her debut album later this year, to his illustrious roster of collaborators that already include some of the industry’s most renowned artists: Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z, Missy Elliot, Nelly Furtado, Drake, Ludacris and Nas.
A perfect addition to the groundbreaking visual-soundtrack, “Whoever We Are” is a proclamation of self-reliance, confidence and perseverance. “I think that music is the universal language. It moves us all and brings us together in a special way,” says Timbaland of the track.
Directed by The Kolton Brothers, “Whoever We Are” also serves as the score for the project’s newest short film. In the enchanting short film, the directing team brings a fresh spin to live action cinematography and animation to bring an imaginative football performance to life.
“This short film began with the simple concept of a boy and his love for the game of football, but the element of animation and imagination brings the film out of this world,” said Grant Kolton. “It is believable magic,” added Ross Kolton.
As consummate artists, The Kolton Brothers – working under the lauded Honey Badger production group – have recently completed work with Gogol Bordello, The Belle Brigade and the Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles (MOCAtv).
