Glassnote RecordsMumford & Sons sophomore release, Babel, has taken over the #1 spot on the U.K. album chart this week, beating out Green Day three times over on total sales for ¡Uno!, which resides at #2. That's according to the U.K.'s Official Charts Company, which keeps track of record sales. Babel marks the best debut sales week of any artist in the U.K. in 2012, securing the top spot on the tally with just under 159,000 copies sold.

It appears that the U.S. charts will mimic the U.K. charts.  Mumford & Sons are expected to hit #1 on the Billboard 200 album chart on Wednesday, with projected sales putting Babel somewhere around an impressive 600,000 copies. Green Day's ¡Uno! is looking to nab the #2 spot on the chart, with projections putting its sales somewhere around 150,000 copies.
