MJ Kim/MPL Communications Ltd.Paul McCartney will give fans a special holiday treat when he appears as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live's Christmas show on December 15SNL alum Martin Short will host the program, which airs on NBC at 11:30 p.m. ET.

No word yet on what McCartney will perform on the episode, but it's a good bet that he might croon his rendition of "The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire)," which is featured on the recently released Holidays Rule compilation as well as on Kisses on the Bottom -- Complete Kisses, the new expanded version of his 2012 standards album that's available exclusively on iTunes.

The ex-Beatles star's upcoming SNL appearance will be the fourth time he's served as the program's musical guest.  He was last featured on the sketch comedy showcase on December 11, 2010.  On that episode, he performed five songs, took the stage during the monologue and appeared in a digital short film and a "Weekend Update" segment.

Sir Paul's forthcoming Saturday Night Live performance will come three days after he takes part in the star-studded 12.12.12 concert for Hurricane Sandy relief at New York City's Madison Square Garden.
