Boz Scaggs' new album, Memphis, hits stores today. The album is the first from Scaggs since 2008's Speak Low and features 12 tracks, a mix of originals and covers.
The collection was produced by Steve Jordan, who also played drums throughout the record. A variety of other respected session musicians also contributed to the project which was recorded at Memphis' Royal Studios, where the late Willie Mitchell produced Al Green's classic 1970s hits. Those musicians include guitarist Ray Parker Jr., keyboardist Spooner Oldham, bassist Willie Weeks and the Memphis Horns.
Memphis is on the 429 Records label. Preview clips of nearly all of the songs on the album can be heard at the label's official website.
Scaggs will hit the road in support of Memphis starting with a March 21 show in Modesto, California and concluding with a show in Las Vegas on June 22. Visit Boz Scagg's Facebook page for the complete itinerary.
