Cape Town: Kurtley Beale will return to fullback for the Waratahs after Israel Folau was ruled out of the side's clash against the Stormers.
Folau's ongoing battle with a knock to his throat is a big blow to NSW, who are desperate to get their three-week tour back on track at Newlands this weekend.
After the Waratahs attack stuttered badly without Folau against the Sharks last week, coach Michael Cheika has moved Kurtley Beale back to his favoured fullback position and started Jono Lance at inside centre.
It is a direct swap from last week. Beale has started in the No.12 jersey all season, with Bernard Foley at five-eighth, in a combination that has paid dividends for the Waratahs in attack.
The side had the highest point scoring average (32.5) in the competition going into the Sharks match but managed only 10 points, including a 76th-minute try, in Durban.
Lance is adept at inside centre and has a strong kicking game, while Beale has played most of his Test rugby at fullback.
The Waratahs were betting on Folau's fitness this week, having made the decision to fly him over. Had he been a less than even chance of playing the Test fullback would have stayed in Australia.
In other news, Alofa Alofa has made a rapid recovery from a side strain to make the starting line up. He will partner with Peter Betham on the wing.
As expected, Wycliff Palu is out with an ankle injury. Captain Dave Dennis moves to No.8, Jacques Potgieter starts at No.6 and Will Skelton comes off the bench to start alongside Kane Douglas in the second row.
Cheika has backed his all-Wallaby front row to right their wobbles from last week, naming Benn Robinson, Tatafu Polota-Nau and Sekope Kepu to start.
The Waratahs will name their bench on Friday.
