    Charlie XCX hails from The UK and at only 20-years-old, is taking the music world by storm. The pop artist supported Santigold and Coldplay on tour last summer, and released her debut EP, You’re The One, in June 2012. Watch out: she’s bound to be a major star if things keep moving at this pace for her!

    Toro y Moi

    Chaz Bundick, AKA Toro Y Moi put out some of the best contributions to the “Chillwave” genre and just released his third studio album, Anything in Return, in January. His energetic, lo-fi indie-rock music sounds like a vinyl-record from the 60’s being played under water. Seek out his fresh, crisp sounds at SXSW.

    Icona Pop

    “I Love It” is the song of the moment, hitting the top ten charts all over the world and serving as a no-holds-barred youth anthem. Don’t miss the Swedish DJ and pop duo at SXSW, or you’ll regret it.
  • 6. Ryan Hemsworth

    Ryan Hemsworth

    Ryan Hemsworth is pushing the limits for what a multi-genre producer can do. Hailing from Nova Scotia, Canada, the young producer made a name for himself by releasing unofficial remixes of songs by artists like Grimes and Frank Ocean. If you haven’t already, get to know this budding star at SXSW.

    Lucy Rose

    There’s a youthful innocence to singer Lucy Rose’s high-pitched vocals and soothing style that draws inspiration from artists like Joni Mitchell and Neil Young. Catch her at SXSW this year and check out her debut EP, Like I Used To released this past September on Columbia Records.

    Japanese pop-rock band, The Suzan, is a quartet of women with big personalities. Make sure to listen to their hit song, “Come Come,” and get to know their unique style of garage rock-infused pop music when they perform in Austin later this month.

    Wolfgang Gartner

    Wolfgang Gartner is one of the EDM’s heavy-hitters who creates complex beats and plunging drops perfect for fueling a night in the club. He’s made music with the likes of Deadmau5 and Skrillex, and you can catch him spinning in Austin this month.

    Skaters

    Their name comes more from the carefree feeling of earlier New York bands like The Ramones who roamed downtown New York City with instruments in hand, searching for cheap thrills and good times. Skaters’ light-hearted brand of rock and roll makes them one of the artists you absolutely shouldn’t miss at SXSW.

    Hanni El Khatib

    The former Creative Director of HUF Skateboard clothing company decided to pursue his first love, music, in 2010. His raw, bluesy voice grinds perfectly against the heavy garage-rock style guitar riffs that litter his first EP, When The Guns Come Out.

    Baauer

    DJ and producer Baauer is years younger than the dance that has made his hit single viral. “Harlem Shake,” was the breakthrough song that put the 23-year-old on the music map, and now you can catch Baauer spinning a live DJ set at SXSW. Just make sure you practice the harlem shake beforehand; it’s actually much more complicated than it looks!
