Cher Lloyd’s new single, “Sirens,” is a melancholy love story that displays the sheer strength of her vocal talent, and the poetic grace of her writing. It’s a distinctly more grown-up sound than the bubbly R&B-infused pop 20-year-old singer has released in the last three years. Lloyd rose to fame in 2010 after appearing as a contestant on the X Factor. With a personality as bold as her booming voice, she quickly captivated listeners and created the perfect launching pad for an illustrious career in the making.

Her debut album Stick and Stones was released in 2011 with features from artists like Busta Rhymes and Mike Posner. While the album was a complete commercial success, selling more than 200,00 copies, it was a collaborative work with members of her label team oat Epic Records. This year, Lloyd will release Sorry I’m Late, her sophomore album due out July 28, 2014, which also happens to be her 21st birthday. The album is heavier and more aggressive, with lyrical content that shines light on some of the difficulties Lloyd has personally experienced, and high moments that carry its listeners to the peak of Lloyd’s wave right alongside her.

On June 21, Cher Lloyd will headline Pepsi’s Summer Solstice Concert in Jackson, Wyoming at 5pm MT. Check Pepsi.com and Vevo for the live stream and pre-order your copy of Sorry I’m Late.
