The UK and the US collided when James Blake called on rising Chicago hip-hop star, Chance the Rapper for a remix to “Life Round Here.” Blake is no stranger to the world of hip-hop, having worked with the likes of RZA, Drake, and Kanye West. When asked about the unexpected collaboration he told BBC’s Zane Lowe, “I really like his mixtape and saw him at SXSW, I just thought his voice would work really well. I never felt the track was finished, even when it went on the album, I always thought there was space for something else.” With the original version on Blake’s sophomore album Overgrown, both deliver a superb performance mixing Chance’s raw energetic raps and signature adlibs with Blake’s melancholic crooning. Just go ahead and set your music player on repeat.
Now the artists bring us visuals for the track after shooting in the UK. The melancholic black and white video features everything from horses, to a Chevy Impala. Check it out above!
