Ingredients

  • 1 32 oz
    bag tater tots
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 8 oz pkg
    bacon (or 9 slices)
  • 1 15 oz
    jar white queso
  • 1 ¾ cups
    sour cream
  • ¼ cup
    BBQ sauce
  • 1 bunch
    scallions, chopped
  • 1 bunch
    chives, chopped
  • 12-16
    small jars or cups

Directions

Step 1
Bake the Tater Tots and Bacon

1 32 oz bag tater tots, salt and pepper (to taste), 1 8 oz package bacon (or 9 slices)

Preheat your oven according to the tater tot package instructions.
Spread the tater tots in a single layer on a sheet tray and season them with salt and pepper.
Lay the bacon slices on a separate sheet tray.
Bake the tater tots and bacon simultaneously in the oven. Cook the bacon for about 15 minutes, or until crispy. Bake the tater tots as per package directions, usually 20-25 minutes, until golden and crispy.
Once cooked, remove the bacon from the oven and chop it into bite-sized pieces. Optional: Toss the baked tater tots in the rendered bacon fat for extra flavor.

Prepare the Sauce

1 15 oz jar white queso, 1 ¾ cups sour cream, ¼ cup BBQ sauce

Warm up the white queso in a small saucepan over low heat or in the microwave until smooth and creamy.
In a medium bowl, mix the sour cream with the BBQ sauce until well combined. Set aside.
Step 3
Assemble the Loaded Tots

Chopped bacon, warmed queso, prepared sour cream-BBQ sauce mixture, 1 bunch scallions (chopped), 1 bunch chives (chopped), 12-16 small jars or cups

Start layering the ingredients into small jars or cups: first, add a base layer of crispy tater tots, followed by a sprinkle of bacon bits. Drizzle some queso on top, then add a dollop of sour cream-BBQ sauce.
Repeat the layering process until the jars are filled, finishing with a topping of scallions and chives for a fresh, zesty garnish.
